After defeating Margit, the Fell Omen, in Elden Ring, the Tarnished will need to enter Stormveil by either going through the Castle Gate or one of the watchtowers on the outer walls. The player will encounter enemies on both paths, yet entering via the tower is slightly more discreet. Nevertheless, the game offers two ways to open the Stormveil Castle Gate.
The first method is talking to Elden Ring NPC, Gatekeeper Gostoc. He can be found in the room to the left of the Stormveil Castle Gate. Gostoc will advise the Tarnished to take the secret route through an opening in the western walls. If the player adheres to his guidance, he wishes the Tarnished godspeed, letting them go on their way. On the other hand, Elden Ring fans can refuse the secretive approach and demand Gostoc open Stormveil's main gate. This action can be taken by choosing the dialogue option, «I want to use the main gate.» However, players should be prepared to have a flurry of ballista arrows showered upon them upon entry through the Castle Gate. Hence, it is recommended to use the nearby Site of Grace before venturing through the treacherous main entrance.

Alternatively, the Tarnished can open the Stormveil Castle Gate on their own, without the help of Gatekeeper NPC in Elden Ring. To do so, take the outer wall route recommended by Gostoc. Enter the tower and ascend the inner wall, avoiding or fighting through all the enemy mobs. Climb the ladder up the top floor, turn left, and exit the opening. Several more flights of stairs will be on the left. Continue going upward towards the next Site of Grace, yet be wary of the formidable knight patrolling along the way.
