The trick isn't exactly the kind that would work across every open field in Elden Ring, although it can be used in most dungeons and boss arenas.

In order to make this gesture look like a selfie, all the player has to do is line the camera up against a wall or other structure and push their character forward to fill the frame. When the player gets the angle just right, the gesture pushes the character's arm outside of view and gives off the impression that the camera is in their outstretched hand. It isn't exactly a true photo mode in Elden Ring, but it does look like one.
