Elden Ring offers players a variety of gestures that can impact the game in unpredictable ways. These can be found pretty much everywhere and be unlocked in many different ways. Although gestures mainly serve as a way of communication between players, some can provoke a reaction from NPCs in Elden Ring or even unlock secret areas. Currently, there are two locations that the Elden Ring community has discovered that can be unlocked with a gesture; both of them require the Erudition gesture and are located in Liurnia of the Lakes.
Elden Ring is not the first FromSoftware game that locks content behind gestures. Indeed, Dark Souls 3 took this concept much further than Elden Ring by hiding a whole secret area behind the Path of the Dragon gesture. This region was called Archdragon Peak, and in it, players could find multiple items, unique weapons, and even bosses they would never otherwise see without knowing how to access this secret area.

Gestures in Elden Ring can be performed by opening the menu, navigating to the slots on the bottom right side, and using the action button to select one. Players can only have up to six chosen at a time but can switch them by any they have acquired by following the proper prompt buttons shown at the bottom of the screen. For those playing on the PlayStation, gestures can be associated with a directional movement of the controller. To use it during the game, players must simply hold Triangle and perform the movement associated with the gesture they wish to use.
