When the sunsets on the city of Villedor in Dying Light 2, things get a wholelot more lethal. While the majority of infected stay indoors or underground during the day, there are far greater numbers roaming the streets of the city at night. The infected are far more volatile, and most will chase the player until they are safe or dead. Fans of the first game in the series will welcome Dying Light 2's familiar approach to nighttime, as well as the many new additions that make it even more worth it to explore the city at night.
Dying Light 2's nighttime is much easier to survive than the first game if players just intend on running on rooftops and gathering extra parkour XP. However, the sequel offers plenty of more to do in the night than the first, including nighttime exclusive quests, Quarantine Zones, Dark Zones, and GRE Anaomly boss fights. These activities offer some of the best loot and rewards in the game all while players are earning extra XP for surviving the night. Players will have to bring the right equipment and be wary of Dying Light 2's new monsters, like the Howler, who will call a horde of zombies to the player if they spot them.

As soon as the sun goes down, players will have to keep track of their immunity timers, a new mechanic in Dying Light 2's nighttime and dark zones. Since every player is infected, staying in the light is the only way to keep themselves from turning. If a player's immunity timer hits zero, they will turn and die. In order to survive in the dark, players will have to utilize Dying Light 2's new gear like consumable UV Shrooms or immunity boosters that will extend the players' immunity time in the dark.
