Dune: Spice Wars has an early access release date. Starting on April 26, Dune fans can experience Shiro Games' real-time strategy and 4X fusion on the sandy planes of Arrakis for the first time.
Announced at last year's Game Awards ceremony, Dune: Spice Wars has players take control of one of four playable factions. There are the two warring houses of the Atreides family and the Harkonnen Clan, of course, but recently introduced were the Smugglers and the Fremen. Each will have its own unique military units, diplomatic skills, and logistical abilities to help them take control of Arrakis and its valuable Spice trade.

We got to see a preview of the game a few months ago in a gameplay trailer, which showcased a fairly typical RTS layout. Players will have to manage money, population, and water supply while using Ornithopters to scout the desert and identify lucrative Spice fields. Villages can be annexed or partnered with, depending on your general attitude to the locals, while opposing factions can be dealt with militarily, diplomatically, or through more subversive means.
The Fremen were just introduced as part of the early access announcement. The native inhabitants of Arrakis, the Fremen fight to overthrow their imperial overlords and chart their own destiny. Well known as fierce fighters, the Fremen have adapted to the desert climate in ways no other faction can compare. Fremen can travel further before becoming exhausted, ride atop dangerous sandworms, and ambush imperial invaders from the cover and sandstorms.
