With only a few days left until Blizzard's official announcement of the next World of Warcraft expansion, we're taking another look at the leaks and rumors, to see how closely they match up with what gets revealed next Tuesday.Warning: leaks, rumors, speculation, and what may not be real spoilers abound!
Official Website LeakBlizzard's own website all but confirmed that the next expansion would be World of Warcraft Dragonflight, its public source code leaking both the name and the currently inaccessible dragonflight.blizzard.com. Newly registered web certifications backed this up, alongside encrypted items and unused back pieces which seem to reinforce the concept.
The February SpeculationIt's long been rumored that the expansion would have something to do with dragons and there's never any lack of wild rumor and speculation in the months leading up to a new reveal. While normally, we wouldn't pay them any mind, a post on the MMO-Champion forums stands out, due to getting the name right two whole months before Blizzard's own leak. Of course, this doesn't mean any of the information is true. «Dragonflight» is hardly the most unique name, so it could have just been a lucky guess or perhaps built upon a partial leak — learning about the name through some other source and adding speculation to back it up. Either way, none of this is confirmed, and is in fact most likely false, but it may be fun to see whether any of it matches up with Blizzard's own reveal on April 18th.
