Many of these quests are time sensitive, requiring you to complete them within a certain amount of time, lest they expire. Trials and Tribulations contains all of these aspects, it is timed and requires you to make an interesting decision. It even has some great rewards to boot.
Trials and Tribulations is a Royal Orders Quest, meaning it is available once you have been accepted into the Duke’s Demesne. Effectively, these quests become available after you complete the quest named Come to Court.
To start this quest in earnest, speak with Aldous, the Duke’s Advisor. They will request help in convicting a man named Fournival, who is suspected of treason.
Once you have accepted this quest, you will need to gather evidence regarding the case.
Before this, you can speak to Fournival, who is being held under arrest by Ser Aerick and Ser Auguste, and he will inform you that if you get him out of this mess, he will sell you cheap goods.
You will only have four days to complete this quest.
The main part of this quest is to collect evidence either in favour or against Fournival. Your actions throughout the game so far will come into play here, with a number of quests impacting your evidence collections.
With that, if all you want to do is convict Fournival, you can progress the quest by heading to the fountain square once enough time has passed.
