New Game Plus has become a common addition to narrative-driven titles, offering a way for players to revisit the game's story after completing it while carrying over their previously acquired items or upgrades without having to restart the game from scratch.
New Game Plus has been a feature in past Ubisoft titles, such as or However, other titles, such as and Massive Entertainment's previous title, didn't have such an option.
Star Wars Outlaws focuses on a grimier, seedier side of the universe with a rich, detailed open world that features both new and legacy characters.
Unfortunately, takes after Massive Entertainment's previous game and doesn't have New Game Plus or even a Mission Select function. Therefore, those who want to experience Kay Vess' story again will have to start from scratch in a completely new game, reacquiring every upgrade, cosmetic, and tool all over again.
While it could be argued that this progression is a part of Kay's story as she builds her reputation with the criminal underworld, it would have been fun to have some of her more powerful blaster options or her full array of tools from the start of a second playthrough. There is still the option to explore the open world further after the credits roll, however, and complete any side missions that had been left untouched upon entering the Point of No Return, meaning nothing is missable in the game.
Being able to reenter the open world in this way also lets players experiment with building allegiances or betraying different syndicates, as there always seems to be a flow of contracts
