After discovering his killer’s identity, Doctor Strange was able to move to the next life, and his passing was a perfect shout out to his “death” in Avengers: Infinity War. In The Death of Doctor Strange #5, the Sorcerer Supreme, solves the mystery of his own murder, and in a poignant moment, passes to his final reward, attended by his former lover, and the new Sorcerer Supreme, Clea. Someone has murdered Doctor Strange, and in a twist, a “clone” of Strange, from earlier in his career, arrives to help solve the mystery. As a result of Strange’s passing, and the vacancy of the Sorcerer Supreme position, numerous magical threats that were once held at bay suddenly began menacing Earth, including three “apex predators” called the Three Mothers; these mysterious beings consumed magic users, and now set their sights on Earth. After eliminating the usual suspects, such as Baron Mordo, Strange, Clea and the other sorcerers learn Kaecilius was the culprit. Now, Strange and his allies must face down not only Kaecilius, but the Three Mothers as well. The issue is written by Jed MacKay, illustrated by Lee Garbett, colored by Antonio Fabela and lettered by Cory Petit.
