Xochitl Gomez reveals that the Illuminati scene in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was supposed to be shorter. The actress plays one of the newest MCU heroes, the multiverse-hopping America Chavez. Debuting in the Sam Raimi-directed Doctor Strange 2, America teamed up with Doctor Strange to fight Wanda Maximoff, who had fully embraced her villainous persona as the Scarlet Witch after being corrupted by the Darkhold.
Aside from the sorcerer battle, Doctor Strange 2 also delved deeper into the multiverse, as its title suggested. This meant watching the film's primary characters traveling through various realities such as Earth-838, where an Illuminati team existed. Marvel Studios took this opportunity to have fun with the group's roster, delivering on some thrilling casting choices. For example, John Krasinski played the Fantastic Four's Reed Richards. In the end, the Illuminati were ruthlessly killed by Scarlet Witch in what was arguably the most buzz-worthy — and controversial — moment in the film.

Well, it's actually funny because the Illuminati sequence was actually a lot shorter in the original script, and it actually wasn't until reshoots that the Illuminati got a bigger scene. I was probably one of the only ones that got to see all the Illuminati come in every day, and it was a lot of work for the props team!
