The first major encounter that must be completed in the new Destiny 2 Vow of the Disciple Raid is the Acquisition. This encounter is a series of timed objectives that the six-Guardian fireteam must complete with distinct coordination and communication, as there are 27 different symbols that the team has to be familiar with. Knowing these symbols is vital not only for the completion of this encounter but for the rest of the Vow of the Disciple Raid as well.
Additionally, there is no boss fight at the end of this particular encounter, though there are a lot of powerful enemies that need to be defeated as quickly as possible. For that reason alone, players should bring the Gjallarhorn rocket launcher with its Catalyst unlocked, or another Legendary rocket launcher with the Ambitious Assassin perk. This perk allows players to load two rockets into the weapon's magazine, which is crucial for taking out powerful and large groups of enemies quickly in Destiny 2. Any red bar clearing Supers are preferred, too, as well as other weapons that excel in taking on large groups of enemies at once such as grenade launchers with Blinding Grenades or auto rifles and submachine guns with Subsistence and Frenzy/Rampage/Adrenaline Junkie.

Around the arena are three pairs of Obelisks that players must protect from Scorn, but they'll also need the Obelisk as the correct symbols are determined for this encounter in The Witch Queen expansion. Additionally, a small Darkness object is located in the center of the arena on the far side of the two structures in the middle, and shooting it will begin Acquisition.
