All season long, Destiny 2’s Guardians have thought they were figuratively building bridges to rescue Mara Sov’s lost Tech Witches. It turns out the metaphorical nature of the Dreaming City was a bit more literal during Season of the Lost.
Reddit user Killomaniac was first to notice that there’s actually a real bridge being made in the background of the Astral Alignment activity. That’s the one where Guardians align the Ley Lines to bridge the gaps in the Ascendant Plane between Mara Sov and her lost Techeuns. It can be hard to make out without a sniper scope, but if you were to look off into the distance during various Astral Alignments, you can definitely make it out.

“This was really small at first but it has slowly been constructed over time,” writes Killomaniac in their Reddit post. “Most likely where the exorcism for Savathun will occur as you can look into the middle tower with a sniper and see Savathun's Chrysalis inside (from the taken rift encounter)."
Why there needs to be a literal bridge to Savathun’s Chrysalis remains to be seen. Thus far, Guardians have been able to take a portal from the H.E.L.M. to see Mara Sov and Savathun whenever they want. One suspects Mara is being proactive in realizing that killing Savathun will leave a gigantic corpse that won’t fit through the portal.
Of course, we know Savathun won’t stay dead. In The Witch Queen expansion, Savathun resurrects after somehow stealing the Light. How Savathun manages that will have to wait until The Witch Queen arrives on February 22.
