While the finer details of Deadpool’s past have remained a mystery, mostly due to the fact that he is the most unreliable of narrators, there was one secret that actually saved his life from Magneto once it was revealed–which was that Deadpool had a daughter, and she was a mutant.
Wade Wilson aka Deadpool made his first appearance in New Mutants #98 by Rob Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza. Upon his debut, Deadpool was a villainous mercenary who was sent to kill Cable and anyone else who got in his way. Due to his wise-cracking nature and fun-loving apathy in regards to murder, Deadpool became a fan-favorite character which led to the villain’s metamorphosis into an antihero who is way closer to being a full-blown hero than he is a villain despite his introduction. While mysterious at first, Deadpool’s character has slowly revealed itself–including his details about his past and shocking revelations about members of his family.

In Deadpool #11 by Gerry Duggan and Matteo Lolli, Deadpool is trying to kill Sabretooth with the Inhuman Terrigen Mist which is toxic for mutants. Deadpool was under the misconception that Sabretooth killed his parents, even though Deadpool was the one who killed them himself. After Deadpool learned the truth, he released Sabretooth from his restraints. However, right after the two killers got on the same page, Magneto appeared with murderous intent. Magneto wanted to kill Deadpool as the Merc with a Mouth had Terrigen Mist within his possession, which meant he had the means to kill any mutant he wanted regardless of their power level.
