Dead Island 2 is coming out a week early. Deep Silver and Dambuster Studios made the announcement earlier today while also confirming Dead Island 2 has gone gold.
"You asked for it, you got it. Dead Island 2 went gold and it's coming out a week early," reads the tweet. "See you in HELL-A on April 21, 2023."

Neither publisher more developer said exactly when Dead Island went gold, which marks the development milestone for when a master copy is sent to the publisher to create physical media for distribution. These days, going gold doesn't mean nearly as much as it used to as most games have day-one patches that are sometimes half the size of the original installation file, while others don't even bother putting data to disc and instead just direct the player to download the game online. But hey, being feature-complete and coming a week early are both wins, so we'll take 'em.
Dead Island 2 is the action zombie buster sequel to Dead Island: Riptide and the third game in the Dead Island series. It's not actually on an island though; Dead Island 2 takes place in Los Angeles and San Francisco, which have both been quarantined due to the zombie outbreak. Like it's predecessors, you'll be tasked with creating fun and innovative weapons to kill zombies by the hundreds, and you'll have to keep crafting 'em because they'll have a tendency to break.
Like the previous games, you'll be able to choose between four playable characters: Ryan the exotic dancer, Jacob the stuntman, Amy the Paralympic champion, and Dani, a retail assistant.
