The first trailer for, a new action thriller starring, has been released.
Shared exclusively by IGN, the Darkness of Man trailer sees Van Damme play a former government agent who is tasked with looking after a child whose mother was killed by some dangerous individuals. When the child is then kidnapped, Van Damme will stop at nothing to get him back.

“Russell Hatch (Jean-Claude Van Damme) is a washed-up, former Interpol operative who vowed to protect the son of an informant killed years earlier in a raid gone wrong,” the official synopsis reads. “When merciless street gangs start an all-out turf war and the kid is caught in the middle, Hatch will stop at nothing to keep him safe and fight anyone who gets in his way.”
Darkness of Man is directed by James Cullen Bressack, who previously made 2022’s Hot Seat, 2021’s Fortress, and 2019’s Beyond the Law, among other titles.
Bessack co-wrote the screenplay, based on an original story he and Van Damme came up with, for Darkness of Man alongside Alethea Cho. The film also stars Kristanna Loken, Emerson Min, Spencer Breslin, Kirk “Sticky Fingaz” Jones, and Shannen Doherty
Van-Damme is known for starring in a number of action movies from the 1980s and 1990s, including 1988’s Bloodsport, 1989’s Kickboxer, 1991’s Double Impact, 1992’s Universal Soldier, 1993’s Hard Target, 1994’s Timecop, 1994’s Street Fighter, 1996’s Maximum Risk, and more. While he voiced Jean Clawed in 2022’s Minions: The Rise of Gru and has cameoed as himself in a handful of television projects, Van Damme hasn’t been seen in an action movie prior to Darkness of Man since 2021’s The Last Mercenary.
Darkness of Man releases on digital streaming services on May 21, 2024, from Saban Films.
