The Dark Souls series has a long tradition of challenging, interesting, and complex boss fights, and Dark Souls 2 is no different. From horrifying giant frogs to ancient kings gone mad over time, there are plenty of memorable encounters.

Mytha, the Baneful Queen is no different. A toxic monarch situated atop the Earthen Peaks, she will do her best to make sure you are poisoned at all points during the battle. However, if you follow some key tips, this fight can be made much more manageable.
Mytha is a Medusa-like fight, where her main tactic is to poison you at all times. Compared to many of the enemies you will come across in Dark Souls 2, she is relatively simple. However, if you let the poison take hold, you are in trouble.
The Queen is located at the end of the Earthen Peaks, and her boss room is filled with poison that will constantly affect you. However, this poison can be mostly removed by exploring the Earthen Peaks.
Once the poison is removed her attacks are quite simple, slow and easy to avoid or block. She has a number of ranged moves that have very little tracking and thus can be rolled away from.
To completely trivialise this fight, one could use Pyromancy or summon the NPC located outside of the boss room.
The main thing you will want to do before even starting this fight is to remove the poison in the boss room.
To do so you must first defeat the Covetous Demon, then from the bonfire continue on until you see a switch on the wall and pull it.
Keep moving along the walkways, facing some tough enemies. Eventually, you will come to the outside of the windmill, here you can use a torch to set it alight.
This step is crucial, and will make the boss fight
