Now that CSI: Vegas season 2 will not feature Gil Grissom or Sara Sidle, the CSI franchise needs to give the duo the happy ending that they are long overdue. Life has not been easy for CSI sweethearts Gil and Sara. Over the years, William Peterson and Jorja Fox’s characters have been dating, broken up, engaged, estranged, and finally happily together between various incarnations of the hit series.
When the original series CSI finally ended back in 2015, it seemed as though the long-suffering pair were guaranteed a happy ending. However, Fox’s Sara and Petersen’s Gil returned for CSI: Vegas season 1, ensuring that the duo was still stuck solving gruesome crimes years after the original show finished. With both characters now retired from the show, it’s time forCSI: Vegas season 2 to give them the canon happy ending they have earned.

Circa 2015, when the original series wrapped, CSI creator Anthony E. Zuiker said that in the future “Gil and Sara (would be) sailing the oceans,” adding that the couple would spend the rest of saving the environment, having children, dedicating their lives “to the betterment of humanity.” It was an idyllic ending that was robbed by their return inCSI: Vegas season 1 but, now that the duo isn't returning for season 2, there’s no reason they can’t still get this canonical dream retirement back. It is tough to imagine CSI: Vegas season 2 without Jorja Fox and William Petersen, but giving their characters a proper send-off will set the show up on the right footing.
