Neon drops a brand-new trailer for David Cronenberg's forthcoming horror feature film Crimes of the Future, starring longtime collaborator Viggo Mortensen. Mortensen heads a cast that includes No Time To Die's Léa Seydoux, recent Oscar-nominee Kristen Stewart, and Scott Speedman. The film is set in the distant future, in which the human species has to adapt to a synthetic environment as their bodies undergo new transformations and mutations. Crimes of the Future marks Cronenberg's first directorial venture since 2014's Maps To The Stars and is set to premiere as an official selection at the Cannes Film Festival next month.
Now, NEON releases a Crimes of the Future teaser trailer, showcasing Cronenberg's signature body horror elements from his formative years as a director. The trailer offers glimpses of the main cast along with some gruesome imagery and surreal visuals, hinting at the unwelcoming nature of the gloomy, dystopian world and the medical procedures on display. Crimes of the Future marks Cronenberg's fourth collaboration with Mortensen, with the pair having worked together on 2005's A History of Violence, 2007's Eastern Promises, and 2011's A Dangerous Method. Regarded as one of the primary creators of the body horror genre, the legendary Canadian filmmaker has received plenty of critical acclaim for his films.
