After months of leaks and rumours, Apple finally revealed the long-awaited iOS 16 at the WWDC 2022 Event. iOS 16 includes a host of new features that are sure to improve your experience. From customizable lock screen, Livetext to improved Messages, the feature list is pretty long. Here we focus on an iPhone camera trick arriving with iOS 16.

One such coveted feature is Visual Lookup. This feature allows users to pick any image from anywhere and search for information regarding it on the internet. If that is not amazing, you’ll be surprised to know that the iOS 16 takes it a step further.

Now, you can tap and hold any image from your gallery and either search for it on the internet or send it to anyone via Messages.

Apple said, “[You can] tap and hold on the subject of an image to lift it from the background and place it in apps like Messages.” The visual lookup feature not only recognizes people, but also birds, animals, insects, statues and more.

Although the feature is yet to arrive due to iOS 16 public release being in September, you can still try it if you have the iOS 16 public beta. Do note that the beta versions of iOS are unstable and contain bugs and glitches as they are still in the testing phase.

Open Photos and select an image containing a properly defined subject.

Press and hold the object until a white glow outlines the object and a menu pops up. Tap on copy to copy the object to your clipboard or share to share it via the default sharing options.

Another way is to press and hold the subject so that its lifted from the background.

Now, keep on holding with one finger and launch the app through which you wish to send the image.

Drag and drop the subject in the typing box. You can send it through Messages, Mail, Notes
