The Zombies component of Call of Duty: Vanguard was met with significant pushback from fans when it debuted in late 2021. Initially very sparse in terms of content, Dar Anfang, the mode’s launch experience, mostly consisted of repurposed assets, and the non-traditional objective-based gameplay approach rubbed many the wrong way. However, a new era for Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies may be dawning, as the recently-revealed Season 2 content looks to be the most significant addition to the game since launch.
A recent tweet from Treyarch, the developer responsible for the Zombies content in the otherwise Sledgehammer Games-helmed Call of Duty title, lays out all the new additions set to arrive in Zombies when Season 2 officially begins on February 14. Most crucially, the update will introduce Terra Maledicta, the first DLC map for Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies. It’s difficult to gauge the size and scope of the map based on what’s currently available, but it is known that Terra Maledicta will function exactly as Der Anfang did, with a central hub area acting as a staging ground for players to visit between missions.

Beyond that, the update will introduce three new mission locations in the form of the Corrupted Lands, the Eastern Desert, and the Hall of Truth. These locations seem to be far more unique than the recycled locations visited in Der Anfang, though it isn’t clear if these new locations will be exclusive to Terra Maledicta or if they can be found in both Zombies maps. There's also a pause feature said to be in the works, though it goes unmentioned in the update.
