Challenge-based game show Taskmaster is going global, with a new streaming service that allows international viewers easy access to episodes of the hit series. With the British panel show heading into season 13, Taskmaster's popularity has grown tenfold in recent years, inviting a worldwide selection of comedians and celebrities to compete in bizarre tasks laid out by the show's leads, Alex Horne and Greg Davies. Thanks to its success on British soil, the show has spawned several international versions, the most notable of which being a failed U.S. take starring Horne alongside comedian Reggie Watts.
And now, shared by The Guardian, Taskmaster will give its global audiences an easy way to catch up on the show, with a new streaming service exclusively showing episodes from the TV series. The service, called Taskmaster Supermax+, costs 5.99/mo and currently shows seasons 1 to 3 of the British version of the show, with season 4 coming on March 11. While the show can still be seen, at least in part, on YouTube, Taskmaster Supermax+ will show the episodes ad-free. The new streaming service is also offering a 30-day free trial.

Whether Taskmaster Supermax+ will work remains to be seen, but it's an interesting experiment nonetheless. Its success could also pave the way for other region-specific shows to find larger audiences through their own solo streaming services. That opens up the debate about the current state of streaming options and the sheer amount on the market.
