DC and Warner Bros released the first Blue Beetle back in April, but now the hype train is in full speed as fans got treated to the second trailer, which shows what the alien scarab, Khaji Da, can really do. After a string of setbacks and recent box office disappointments from DC, Blue Beetle has the full support of the studio and looks to capture that true fish-out-of-water hero story they've been needing.
This trailer shows off a day in the life of Jaime Reyes, played by Cobra Kai's Xolo Maridueña, and how his family adapts to his newfound superherodom. Check out the wild action below.

trailer. <a href=«https://twitter.com/hashtag/BlueBeetle?src=hash&ref_src=» https:>#BlueBeetle pic.twitter.com/oXoyS7imUG
Alongside Maridueña, the cast includes comedian George Lopez as Jaime's uncle Rudy, Susan Sarandon (Thelma and Louise) as Victoria Kord, Raoul Trujillo (Mayans MC) as the villainous Carapax, and Harvey Guillén (FX's What We Do In The Shadows) in an unspecified role. Maridueña also recently hinted at more than a few DC cameos that will make their way into the movie.
Jamie is the third person to take on the Blue Beetle mantle following Dan Garrett and Ted Kord, with the latter being possibly the most synonymous with the name. There's even a brief look at Ted's Bug flying through the air in the new trailer. Both Garrett and Kord were creations of Spider-Man co-creator Steve Ditko. Jamie was created by comic book legends Keith Giffen, John Rogers, and Cully Hamner in 2006 during DC's Infinite Crisis event.
Blue Beetle hits theaters on August 18.
