Bloober Team has been the center of a lot of attention lately, mainly due to intense rumors claiming that the studio is developing a new entry in Konami's beloved Silent Hill series. These rumors have persisted since early 2021, however, in the time since they began, Bloober Team has confirmed that it has multiple projects in developing, including a new entry in its Layers of Fear series. After much speculation following the reveal of the studio's inclusion at Summer Game Fest, Bloober Team has begun teasing its latestLayers of Fear project.
Layers of Fear is a psychological horror series that first debuted in February 2016 with the first installment on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The game follows a painter who must travel through the horrors of his mind to complete his magnum opus. The game was followed by a sequel in 2018, and the first game received a VR adaptation in 2019.
Bloober Team Won't Comment On Silent Hill 2 Remake Rumors
During Tokyo Game Show 2021, Bloober Team announced a new game simply titled Layers of Fear — New Project. At the time of its announcement, Bloober Team revealed that the game had not yet received an official title, however it is planned to release in 2022. Details on the game have since been scarce outside of confirmation that the game will come to PS5 and will utilize Epic's Unreal Engine 5.
Now, it appears Bloober Team has begun teasing the next entry in the Layers of Fear series once again, as the developer posted a cryptic message on the franchise's Twitter account.
