The Medium is heading to TV as a new psychological horror series.
A statement from developer Bloober Team has confirmed that its 2021 horror game The Medium is being adapted for TV, in a partnership with Platige Image.
“Both the film industry and the video game industry are close to my heart,” said Bloober Team president, Piotr Babieno. “I am very happy that there is finally an opportunity to bring them both together… The story we told in the game was appreciated by players, and now more people will be able to hear about it.”
Oscar-nominated Polish director Tomasz Bagiński will act as creative supervisor for this project. “Connecting the world of movies and games is a huge, but also fascinating challenge,” said Bagiński. “I am glad that I have the pleasure of working on a project like The Medium with such a fantastically talented team.”
According to Babieno, Bagiński’s involvement highlights how seriously the team is taking the adaptation. “The whole team working on the concept of the series felt they were working on something special,” he said. “We hope that this enthusiasm will be visible in the quality of the series.”
The Medium will be a co-production between Bloober Team and Platige Image, with both companies sharing the costs should the series make it into production.
IGN’s review of The Medium gave it 8/10 and said: “An absorbing and nerve-racking journey from the shriek of its first jump scare to its very last gasp, The Medium delivers a psychological horror adventure that’s all thriller and no filler.”
