There are few items in Marvel Comics more iconic than Captain America's vibranium shield; however, it's unsurprising thatT'Challa, King of Wakanda, would possess an even better version. Vibranium is one of Wakanda's greatest assets, best known for being the material that makes Captain America's indestructible shield. While Black Panther uses vibranium technology for his suit and weaponry, alternate versions of the character have found even more creative uses for the metal.
The Exiles are a team of heroes spanning multiple universes with a lineup that includes alternate versions of Ms. Marvel, Iron Lad, Valkyrie, and Wolverine—though Wolvie seems to be the complete opposite of his most popular incarnation. Traveling through the multiverse, the Exiles encounter several familiar faces in less familiar settings. In one such alternate reality is a version of T'Challa known as King, enemy of the Magnus Gang, a group of mutant no-gooders led by the Wild West's Magneto.

It's in 2018's Exiles #6 and 7 by Saladin Ahmed and Rod Reis that the team first encounters King, an alternate version of T'Challa not dissimilar to the Lone Ranger. While this world is less technologically advanced than the mainstream Marvel Universe, Black Panther's signature vibranium costume does have one major advantage—its flowing cloak means that not only is he bulletproof, but that he's more able to extend that advantage to others by protecting them. This proves incredibly useful in shielding his own, full-grown horse when Pete Maximoff attacks the Exiles. Quicksilver may be fast, but speeding bullets don't even put a dent in T'Challa's cloak.
