Xbox has revealed the latest game secured for its Xbox Free Play Days promotion which allows Xbox Live and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers one weekend to play new titles in their entirety for free. This Xbox promotion has been running steadily for many weekends in a row and has featured everything from popular AAA games like Battlefield 2042 to smaller indie titles.
The latest game in one of Ubisoft’s most popular flagship franchises will be the next free to play game to feature as part of Xbox’s Free Play Days. This isn't the first time Ubisoft has provided the free to play title, as games like For Honor have also featured recently.
Far Cry 6 Releases New Hotfix for Xbox Versions
From Thursday, August 4, to Sunday, August 7, Far Cry 6 will be free to play on Xbox for Xbox Live and Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. The collaboration between Xbox and Ubisoft also coincides with Far Cry 6 being included in Xbox’s latest game sales, so if players get a taste for Far Cry 6 over the weekend they can then pick the game up for only $23.99. However, some fans may be disappointed as there were rumors that Far Cry 6 would be coming to Xbox Game Pass rather than just Free Play Days.
Far Cry 6 is the latest game in the venerable Far Cry series which was rejuvenated in 2012 with Far Cry 3, and has gone on to become one of Ubisoft's most popular franchises. Far Cry 3 cemented the series core formula of picturesque landscapes, open world chaos, and a charismatic lead villain. All of which is very much still present in Far Cry 6 which brings in Giancarlo Esposito from Breaking Bad to play the dictatorial «El Presidente» Anton Castillo.
