Interesting news for the anime and manga community was revealed on June 7, when the publisher Hakusensha reported that the late Kentaro Miura's Berserk would be making a return to their Young Animal magazine. Berserk's last issue was released in September 2021, four months after the author's passing.
The legendary dark fantasy title will be published in Young Animal's 13th issue from June 24, with the news being revealed on the Berserk official Twitter account. The tweet can be found below. The news of the series' return comes after the initial decision to leave the series at 364 chapters.
Can Berserk Go on Without Kentaro Miura?
After thanking fans and readers of Berserk for their continued support and love following the passing of author Kentaro Miura, the announcement revealed the plans to continue the Berserk project, which will be continued from June 24, with six chapters to finalize the Elf Island Chapter before moving on to a new arc. Miura's experimentation with new characters, storylines, and devices for Berserk was shared with his best friend and consultant, Kouji Mori, and assistants throughout his career. The series has been serialized since 1990.
Mori will be supervising the project, which Miura's team, Studio Gaga, seeks to continue with the basic objective of attempting to achieve what Miura had wanted for the series. Miura's vision is the main priority for the continuation; which, after the conclusion of the Elf Island/Fantasia Arc, will be credited as «Original Work by Kentaro Miura, manga by Studio Gaga, supervised by Kouji Mori». The numbering of the volumes released from here on out will continue from the series.
