Fans were spooked by an announcement this week from Berserk's new creative team that the series will take a short hiatus after the publication of the next issue. Readers are worried that any break in the publication of the manga may turn out to be indefinite at best, permanent at worst.
Fans were ecstatic when news dropped in early June 2022 that comic book publisher Young Animal would continue publication of Berserk despite the passing of creator Kentaro Miura. According to Young Animal, the continuation of the cult-classic manga will be headed up by Kouji Mori, a close Miura confidant who has access to Miura's detailed notes on how he would have finished the story had he been present. There were some initial questions from the fans base as to whether Young Animal or Mori would be able to continue the saga at the level it had reached under Miura's direction. Ultimately, however, most fans came to the conclusion that life with Berserk was better than without it.
