The Crunchyroll Anime Awards results are in. Attack on Titan Final Season Part 1 ultimately took Anime of the Year--likely to little surprise. The dark fantasy manga had built up considerable momentum that the anime has more than ignited since beginning its run in 2013, proving to be a beloved show for most anime watchers in 2021.
Attack on Titan also won for Best Antagonist (Eren Jaegar), Best Opening Sequence, and Best VA Performance (Japanese). Beyond that, it was a pretty diverse assortment of winners across the board with strong showings. For example, Oddtaxi took prizes for both Best Protagonist (Odokawa) and Best Director (Baku Kinoshita) and Jujutsu Kaisen (Cour 2) won for Best Girl (Nobara Kugisaki), Best Fight Scene (Yuji Itadori and Aoi Todo VS Hanami), Best Character Design (Tadashi Hiramatsu), Best Action, Best VA Performance (German) for René Dawn-Claude — Satoru Gojo, and Best VA Performance (Portuguese) for Léo Rabelo and Satoru Gojo.

According to Crunchyroll, nearly 17 million votes were cast this year in determining winners. The votes came in from fans in more than 200 countries and territories, with the highest engagement coming--in alphabetical order--from Brazil, France, Mexico, United Kingom, and the United States. For the first time, India was included in the top 10 countries for voter turnout.
