Warning: the following contains SPOILERS for All Of Us Are Dead.
All of Us Are Dead's zombie virus has one weakness – it would seem that some people are immune or at least highly resistant to its worst effects. While most of the cast of All of Us Are Dead become brainless animals when they're bitten by zombies, a handful of individuals turn into “asymptomatic” zombies or zombie hybrids instead – infected individuals who retain their full mental faculties. As the zombie hybrids share the distinct rotting corpse smell of regular zombies, they're able to move through zombie hordes without getting attacked. Moreover, upon infection, zombie hybrids appear to also gain superhuman endurance, which not only includes the ability to survive lethal wounds, but also an extreme tolerance to pain.
Only three characters in All of Us Are Dead became zombie hybrids. There's Min Eun-ji (Oh Hye-soo), the female student who was mostly asymptomatic but later temporarily entered a fully-zombified state and infected another person. Meanwhile, Class 2-5 president Choi Nam-ra (Cho Yi-hyun) also became a hybrid zombie, but was more able to control the urge to attack humans. Nam-ra even uses her newfound abilities to protect the other surviving cast members of All of Us Are Dead – both from regular zombies as well as from school bully Gwi-nam (Yoo In-Su), another hybrid zombie, who used his abilities to terrorize instead of help survivors. Notably, all three hybrids have survived damage that would have killed a human or a regular zombie.
