Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom's Dolph Lundgren reflects on filming scenes with Amber Heard for the highly anticipated sequel. Released in 2018, Aquaman would eventually become the highest-grossing DCEU movie released thus far, earning an impressive $1.148 billion at the box office. Unsurprisingly, after the success of the first film, Aquaman 2, now officially titled Aquaman and the Lost City, was given the green light, promising to bring back characters like Patrick Wilson's King Orm, Amber Heard's Mera, and Lundgren's King Nereus.
Many plot details about Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom remain unknown, but DC Films President Walter Hamada recently revealed that the film will act as more of a buddy comedy between Aquaman and Orm, marking a departure from the Aquaman and Mera duo in the first film. The upcoming sequel has made headlines recently as it was a significant point of contention in the now-concluded trial between Johnny Depp and Heard, his ex-wife. Although Heard – who did return to film scenes for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom – has expressed doubt that her character would feature in the film at all, Hamada's comments confirm that Mera will still appear in the sequel.
