Beats by Dr. Dre is releasing a limited-edition model of the discontinued Pill+ portable speaker in collaboration with fashion brand Stüssy (pronounced STOO-see).
Details are scant, but the design appears to have the same simple blueprint as the original Beats Pill+, which was launched back in 2015. The collaboration, according to Stüssy's website, combines the fashion house's "signature" Southern California aesthetic with Beats' "rich, clear sound field."
A skull-and-bones pattern covers the speaker front, while the rest of the casing is matte black. Power and volume control buttons can be found on top, and a charging port is hidden around the back. Turning the device over reveals the phrase "The only good system is a sound system" engraved in Shawn Stussy's trademark script.
If you want this Stüssy and Beats By Dr. Dre Pill+ speaker, it goes on sale at 1 p.m. ET this Friday, March 4, and will only be available from stussy.com. According to MacRumors, it's going to cost $185.
The Pill+ was Beats' first revision of the 2012 Pill speaker following Apple's $3 billion acquisition of the consumer audio company in 2014. It featured 12-hour battery life, an iOS companion app, and a $229 price tag. However, earlier this year, the portable speaker was quietly pulled from Beats' and Apple's virtual shelves. (It's still available via third-party resellers on Amazon, though).
