The iPhone 14 selfie camera has become a high priority for Apple, according to the latest report. The iPhone 14 is one of the most highly anticipated iPhones due to the expectation that it will feature a major design revamp not seen since the addition of a notch that debuted in the iPhone X. iPhone’s front-facing camera is one of the key components that Apple aims to improve. The current-gen iPhone 13 selfie camera uses a 12MP sensor that has a fixed focus and a ƒ/2.2 aperture. Apple introduced the 12MP selfie camera in 2019 with the iPhone 11 series. Since then, the selfie camera on all following iPhone models has remained the same. That now appears to be about to change with the iPhone 14.

Apple recently ended its partnership with a Chinese supplier and teamed up with LG Innotek to make a high-quality lens for the iPhone 14 selfie camera. According to a report by ET News, Apple has reclassified iPhone 14’s selfie camera from a ‘low-end’ component to a ‘high-end’ one. The iPhone’s front-facing lens usually costs one-third of the rear camera setup. With the re-classification of internal components, however, it’ll cost as much as the rear camera, the report claims.
Per the source, a Chinese parts supplier and the Japanese electronics manufacturer, Sharp, were Apple’s initial supply chain partners.
