Apex Legends gamers are currently asking for major changes to its Ranked Arenas matchmaking functionality in light of how the feature affects competitive players.
The massively popular battle royale game has been seeing a growing fanbase since its inception with Apex Legends hitting 100 million players back in 2021. Over the years, the game has added a variety of features and functionalities to build on its existing popularity. This even includes a highly anticipated Apex Legends mobile version. Now, as the 12th season of Apex Legends is underway, players are calling for changes on one of the game's more recent additions, Ranked Arenas.

Arena mode was first introduced with Apex Legends Season 9 and like most competitive modes in other titles, Apex Legends uses a matchmaking system. This would match players with others who are of similar rank. Now, gamers are asking for a «serious rework» on the Ranked Arenas matchmaking. Some users claim that competitive play and progression in Ranked Arenas is unfair since matches would often team high-ranking players with low-ranking ones. This was most recently raised in the official Apex Legends subreddit where a user by the name «I-Horizontal-I» points out the issue. Several other users also agreed on the thread stating they also face similar issues in Ranked Arenas.
However, this isn't the first time issues were brought up on Apex Legends' Ranked Arenas. Back in October 2021, users made similar complaints, particularly around how Arena Points are handled in the mode. At the time, one of Respawn's senior designers stated that the team is working on making the Apex Legends Ranked Arenas experience better, with major matchmaking changes
