Gyroids have been a part of the Animal Crossing franchise since the beginning, however, they were largely missing from New Horizons until the 2.0 update, Lloid has always appeared next to construction sites to collect donations. They're inspired by Japanese clay figures called haniwa, which were usually buried with the dead in ancient Japan.
