PC accessories manufacturer Akasa released a new desktop storage dock aimed at making M.2 SSD data transfers and cloning as easy as possible.
The DuoDock MX(Opens in a new window) ((AK-DK09U3-WH) contains two M.2 drive slots with support for PCIe Gen 4, Gen 3, and Gen 2 drives. It allows for fast data transfers (up to 10Gbps) using a USB 3.2 Gen 2 connection to a PC. Alternatively, it makes for a very convenient plug-and-play method of cloning an M.2 SSD—just insert two drives and press the dedicated cloning button on the front (no PC necessary).
A cover can be attached to protect the inserted drives while data transfers are carried out. Akasa also included a built-in fan to deal with the heat M.2 drives can produce when carrying out large transfers of data at high speed for an extended period of time.
The dock is relatively small, measuring just 93-by-93-by-132mm, and it's compatible with Windows 8/10/11, macOS 10.15.6 or higher, and Linux 5.4 or higher. Akasa is making it available to buy in the US, UK, and across Europe at a cost of around $105. Included in the box alongside the dock is a power adapter and one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C cable.
