Wrestling and video games have a relationship that stretches back for decades. That's something we're about to be reminded of more than usual this week as WWE 2K prepares to launch its first game for more than two years. WWE 2K22 arrives on March 11 as the studio attempts to redeem itself for WWE 2K20. A game deemed so broken that the developer scrapped plans for WWE 2K21 to focus on fixing its reputation and building a better game.
WWE might have a long history with video games, but the business has a player two now, and it is looking to really make a mark on that corner of the wrestling business. AEW is not only working on a console game of its own, but over the weekend it revealed some Street Fighter crossover action figures. Matt and Nick Jackson as Ryu and Ken, and Kenny Omega as Akuma.

The figures are based on wrestling gear the three of them, known collectively as The Elite, wore to the ring for an AEW match in 2019. All three will be available to buy starting in September 2022. It's also not the first time AEW has worked with Capcom to create some unique Street Fighter crossover merch. There have been a number of limited edition t-shirts sold over the last couple of years showing AEW stars as iconic Street Fighter characters.
Sometimes wrestlers' crossovers with their favorite games aren't always official, just someone showing their fandom through unique ring gear. As recently as Revolution, the latest AEW PPV which aired live on Sunday night, Jade Cargill wore wrestling gear inspired by Mortal Kombat's Jade. WWE's New Day also have such a strong connection to Gears of War that they have become DLC characters in the game and once wore their colorful
