The Outer Worlds looks set to be released for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
As spotted by VGC, the Taiwanese ratings board has classified a new edition of the game called ‘The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition’.
The updated version of Obsidian’s sci-fi RPG is headed to current-gen consoles as well as PC, according to the ratings body.
Published by Private Division, The Outer Worlds was released for PS4, Xbox One and PC in October 2019, before making its way to Switch in June 2020.
It has since received two narrative expansions in the form of 2020’s Peril on Gorgon and last year’s Murder on Eridanos, which added some 10 hours of playtime to the overall package, according to How Long to Beat.
It’s possible the expansions will be included in the upcoming Spacer’s Choice Edition of the game.
Microsoft, which acquired Obsidian in November 2018, has said it hopes to build The Outer Worlds into an “enduring franchise”.
And in June 2021, Obsidian announced The Outer Worlds 2 for Xbox Series X/S and PC with a comedic trailer indicating the game is nowhere near ready.
Obsidian’s next game, Pentiment, is a 16th century murder mystery from Fallout: New Vegas director Josh Sawyer. It will be released in December for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
The studio is also working on Avowed, an “expansive” first-person RPG that takes place in Eora, the world in which Pillars of Eternity is set.
