Barbie director Greta Gerwig will direct two movies.
Gerwig has had a successful directorial career behind her, having helmed the critically successful Lady Bird and Little Women. Her newest movie, Barbie, stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling in an adaptation of the popular Mattel dolls.
According to The New Yorker, Gerwig has a deal with Netflix to write and direct at least two movies based on C.S. Lewis’s The Chronicles of Narnia. It is unknown whether these movies would be in the same continuity as The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, Prince Caspian, and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader or if they would be a complete reboot.
Further installments of the series have been languishing for years, with a The Silver Chair adaptation, directed by Joe Johnston, not coming to fruition yet.
The movie releases on July 21, 2023, by Warner Bros. Pictures.
The film stars Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, America Ferrera, Simu Liu, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Scott Evans, Kate McKinnon, Ariana Greenblatt, Alexandra Shipp, Emma Mackey, Issa Rae, Michael Cera, Hari Nef, Will Ferrell, Helen Mirren, Dua Lipa, and more.
