Players who appear to have obtained copies of The Callisto Protocol ahead of its official release have been posting gameplay videos online.
Roughly the first two hours of the third-person survival horror game have been shared across three separate videos, which are viewable below.
Set for release on December 2 for PC, Xbox and PlayStation consoles, The Callisto Protocol is the brainchild of Dead Space creator Glen Schofield, the former Sledgehammer and Visceral Games general manager who was appointed CEO of the then-new PUBG Corporation development studio Striking Distance in 2019.
Set on Jupiter’s moon Callisto in the year 2320, the single-player game challenges players to escape a maximum security prison after a mysterious outbreak begins transforming its inmates into monstrous creatures.
It was recently confirmed that The Callisto Protocol’s season pass will include extra death animations for the game’s protagonist Jacob and the enemies he faces.
Following suggestions from some sites and social media users that this implied content had been cut from the main game in order to later be released as DLC, Schofield took to Twitter to refute this.
“To be clear, we’re not holding anything back from the main game for the season pass,” he said.
“We haven’t even started work on this content yet. It’s all new stuff that we’ll be working on in the new year.
“Fans have asked for even more deaths, so we’re making it a priority next year.”
