Fourth-generation Amazon Echo speakers, including the Echo Dot, are gaining a new feature that allows them to detect if a person is present in the room by emitting an inaudible sound and detecting the reflections of nearby objects. Technically, Amazon announced the feature earlier in the year, but it is only now starting to roll out to devices.
