Yu-Gi-Oh! just broke the Guinness World Record for the most entrants in a trading card game tournament, shattering its own record.
This year, 7,443 people took part in the 10th Yu-Gi-Oh! Champion Series Japan tournament held at the Tokyo Big Sight. It also earned a Guinness World Record for the largest number of people playing against each other in the same venue at once.
The record was previously held by Konami for Yu-Gi-Oh! as well. Back in 2012, over 4,000 people took part in the 100th Championship Series tournament.
The winner of this double-record-breaking tournament was Yutaro Takahashi, beating over 7,000 other entrants for the top prize. "I am happy to be a champion!" Takahashi said. "It was thanks to the practice with my friends whom I met through Yu-Gi-Oh!
OCG. I will do my best to win the next event as well." On May 23, Yu-Gi-Oh! continues its 25th-anniversary celebrations with a second Rarity Collection, boasting "twice as many Ultra & Secret Rares per pack".
