The first trailer for the new movie has been released. Smurfs is a new animated musical movie that will see Rihanna voice the character of Smurfette.
Coming from director Chris Miller and co-director Matt Landon, the film will be released in theaters this coming July. “When Papa Smurf (John Goodman) is mysteriously taken by evil wizards, Razamel and Gargamel, Smurfette (Rihanna) leads the Smurfs on a mission into the real world to save him.
With the help of new friends, the Smurfs must discover what defines their destiny to save the universe,” says the synopsis. Check out the Smurfs trailer and poster below (watch more trailers and clips): Smurfs is based on the characters originally created by Belgian comics writer and artist Peyo.
The script comes from Pam Brady, while Rihanna also recorded original songs for the project and serves as a producer on it. Jay Brown, Ty Ty Smith, and Ryan Harris also serve as producers.
Along with Rihanna, the voice cast of the film includes Nick Offerman, Natasha Lyonne, JP Karliak, Dan Levy, Amy Sedaris, Nick Kroll, James Corden, Octavia Spencer, Hannah Waddingham, Sandra Oh, Alex Winter, Billie Lourd, Xolo Maridueña, Kurt Russell, and John Goodman.
