November 2 will be a sad day for those who have yet to upgrade from the Meta Quest 1 headset, as that's the day that Beat Saber will be ending support for the device.
The original Meta Quest headset, once known as the Oculus Quest, was a big hit when it was released in 2019. Wireless virtual reality was a huge innovation at the time and did a solid job of increasing interest in the VR space.
The headset, now known as the Meta Quest 1, features a variety of popular virtual reality games in its library. One of the most popular Meta Quest 1 games, and indeed one of the most popular VR games of all time, is the music/rhythm game Beat Saber.
Essentially combining Guitar Hero-style music/rhythm gameplay with lightsabers, Beat Saber was a viral hit and remains popular to this day.
Beat Saber continues to release new content, but those enjoying the game on Meta Quest 1 will be left out later this year. It's been confirmed that Beat Saber is wrapping up support for Meta Quest 1 headsets on November 2, which means its multiplayer modes and other online features are being shut down.
