Two new trademarks seemingly hint at the return of Mega Evolution to the . Later this year, The Pokémon Company and Game Freak will release which sends players back to the Kalos region.
The region which first appeared in is best known for being the home of Mega Evolution, which will also be returning in some format in the new game.
It also appears that Mega Evolution will be coming back to the sometime in the next year. The news site PokeBeach reports that two new trademarks were filed by The Pokémon Company in Japan, which translate to «Mega Brave» and «Mega Symphony.» These trademarks are usually for sets over in Japan, which indicates that the sets will re-introduce the Mega Evolution to the card game. Obviously, this is all speculation as the has not announced anything, nor is there any firm estimate as to when the sets could be released.
When the first introduced Mega Evolution, they were tied to Pokémon EX cards (not to be confused with Pokémon Ex cards, which are separately categorized.) Players could Mega Evolve certain eligible Pokémon EX cards by using a M-Pokémon EX card, but their turn would immediately end once a Mega Evolution occurred.
Players can bypass this rule using a specific Trainer Card tied to a specific Pokémon. For example, a Gengar Spirit Link could be used to evolve Gengar into Mega Gengar without ending the turn, but the Gengar Spirit Link could not be used on any other Pokémon.
