Golden Globe winner Idris Elba is now in final talks to join the live-action movie cast for Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films’s highly-anticipated action fantasy remake.
Elba will be playing the role of Duncan, who, in the original series, is also known as weapons master, Man-At-Arms. Elba recently reprised his role as Knuckles in the eponymous Paramount spinoff series.
He will once again lend his voice to the character in the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Besides Masters of the Universe, the acclaimed actor also has several projects lined up at the moment, including the action comedy Heads of State with John Cena, the action thriller Hammer Down from Oppenheimer producer Charles Roven, the survival thriller Above the Below, and the adult-animated comedy Fixed with Kathryn Hahn.
Masters of the Universe cast will be led by Nicholas Galitzine (Bottoms) as He-Man, Camila Mendes (Riverdale) as Teela, and Alison Brie (Community) as Evil-Lyn.
The film is directed by Travis Knight from a screenplay written by Chris Butler, which is based on the initial draft by David Callaham and Aaron and Adam Nee.
