Silent Hill 2 Remake Is In The "Final Stages" Of Development

Silent Hill producer Motoi Okamoto has revealed that the Silent Hill 2 remake is in the "final stages" of its development, which makes a release in 2024 seem very likely.

Despite most Silent Hill fans letting out a massive groan when it was revealed that Bloober Team would be remaking Silent Hill 2, that hasn't stopped it from being one of the most anticipated horror games in recent years. That's made it all the harder to have near radio silence on the project until the most recent trailer a few weeks ago, with Konami and Bloober blaming one another for the lack of news.

Although the less-than-stellar response to the most recent trailer and its jankiness and the lack of an official release window at the end of the footage has convinced most fans that we're not getting the Silent Hill 2 remake this year, that doesn't seem to be the case at all. Not only was it included in PlayStation's 2024 games highlight, but even Konami says it's nearing the finish line.

As pointed out by ResetEra user Blackbird, Konami developer Motoi Okamoto recently had the chance to speak to Famitsu about the game, which of course led to a question about when we can expect it. Although Okamoto doesn't go as far as offering a proper release date, he does note that the game is in the "final stages of development", which surely means it's not far from being released.

"We are at the final stage of development. Unfortunately, there is little I can tell you at this point. As a game, you can imagine that Silent Hill 2 is the same as everyone imagines, and is easy to play even in modern times, and can be enjoyed with beautiful visuals that look like a direct form of memory correction."

It's not clear if Okamoto is referring to bug fixing and polishing, or if there's more of the Silent Hill 2 remake that needs to be developed, but either way it looks like it's getting closer and closer to the finish line and shouldn't be too far from release.

It's worth noting that Konami also shared gameplay footage
