Analysts Claim Making GTA 6 $80-$100 Would Be A "Turning Point" For The Gaming Industry, & Fans Aren't Happy

A video games analyst has claimed that there's «hope» could be up to a $100 game, sending players everywhere reeling at these substantial costs. With its release set for Autumn 2025, gamers have been highly anticipating this sequel to the hit for a long time now, with the original still a beloved title to this day. Despite just the singular trailer release and a handful of details about it, it's already massively projected to be a bestseller.

The video games analyst Matthew Ball recently shared his State of Video Gaming in 2025 report, documenting several ways the gaming industry could evolve throughout 2025. One of the largest focuses of this report, however, has been how may be one of the first games to raise prices to $80-$100. Due to the game's outstanding popularity and almost guarantee of success, developers seem hopeful it could shift the expectation for pricing on other games too.

As it's projected to make 3 billion within it's first year, could certainly take advantage of its astounding popularity by raising prices. But it's far from confirmed that this is what publisher Take-Two will actually be doing, with much of this just being a hopeful commentary of other developers who wish to recoup some of the growing AAA development costs. There's no reason to believe that the game will launch with such high pricing, and while it may include special editions that could cost more, the base game is likely to be in line with industry standards.
