Warning! SPOILERS for Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 1.
R2-D2 and C-3PO return in Obi-Wan Kenobi, but viewers might have missed the Star Wars droids' quick cameos. With Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen returning as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader, it was already known that Obi-Wan Kenobi would heavily focus on characters from the franchise's past. The initial episodes of Obi-Wan Kenobi proved that this is happening on a grander scale than many expected, as per the previously confirmed appearances of Luke Skywalker, Owen Lars, and the Inquisitors, while the show kept the surprise roles for Leia Organa, Bail Organa, and more under wraps.
Although watching Luke Skywalker is Obi-Wan Kenobi's primary objective during this time period, Obi-Wan Kenobi's story revolves around the Jedi Master being called back into action by Bail Organa after Leia is kidnapped. The series gives Leia a surprisingly big role early on, including showing a glimpse of her life as a child on Alderaan. Obi-Wan Kenobi highlights her rebellious nature, maturity, and future as a politician. It is during the exploration of Leia's life on Alderaan, though, that the series also snuck in cameos from the franchise's most popular droids.
