While Yakuza: Like A Dragon has all the makings of an action-packed adventure, there are also a lot of role-playing activities to do. In addition to random battles and dungeon crawling, the main character Ichiban Kasuga has plenty of other ways to spend his time around town. He can dine, go drinking, play games, and even meet new people.

As he progresses through the story, Ichiban will encounter some women to whom he feels a spark. By developing his Personality and interacting with them, he has a chance to form a greater connection that can eventually evolve into a romantic relationship.
Over the course of the game, Ichiban will interact with six eligible romantic partners. However, in order to develop a relationship with them, he needs to develop a certain aspect of his Personality.
Each woman responds to a different aspect of his Ichiban's character, and four of them will need to be spoken to when the associated Personality trait hits the levels four, seven, and ten, respectively. To transition to a full romantic relationship with any of them, the Personality trait will need to be maxed out at level ten.
Of the four you need to speak to several times, you will also need to bring them gifts when you hit the specific Personality levels. The gifts are bouquets of flowers which you can make yourself by growing or buying them, then taking them to the Survive Bar Barkeep to arrange into bouquets. If you're willing to splurge, you can buy bouquets from the shop Flowers 2 Go at the waterfront in Yokohama.
Lastly, each woman has a questline connected to them that Ichiban must complete before he can start something romantic.
